A 37-year-old woman with HIV who has recently immigrated to the United States from Somalia presents to clinic for evaluation. Shortly after arriving in the United States, she was diagnosed with HIV. She has no symptoms. As part of the initial HIV evaluation, an interferon gamma release assay (IGRA) test—QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus (QFT-Plus)—is ordered to evaluate for latent tuberculosis infection. The result returns several days later with an "Indeterminate" test result.
